[A/S] Quebec trip/Vintage AS caravan

Hi all,
We have just returned from a trip to our favorite lake in northern Quebec. Last year, we broke the axle of our 1965 Caravel on the (very rough) road to the lake. This year, with a slightly heavier axle (2800 vs 2400 lb), and going very slowly, ie two hours to go about 20 km, we had no problems. The fishing was great and the lake was beautiful as always.

What a great surprise when we returned to the US to pull in the campground at 1000 Lakes to find five of the most beautifully polished, lovingly renovated and meticulously cared-for vintage Airstreams we could ever imagine! It turned out to be a caravan of old-time WBCCIers who had come north on US 11 from Tennesee, traveling about half a day and visiting local sights along the way. They were some of the friendliest and most informative people we have met, with lots of tips about techniques and resources for fixing our old camper. (Hunt, Sue, Rick, Wayne, Linda, Deborah who was right when she said I wouldn't remember everyone's name! And one more.) We were able to look inside 2 of the units, which were incredibly well organized and clean, and we have a number of new ideas for improving the looks of our tough little Caravel. Thanks to all of you... We hope to see you on down the road!
