Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is Most Punctual Airline in the World

Posted: 28 Aug 2010 09:35 AM PDT

Over 90% of the Scandinavian Airlines' (SAS) flights are right on time from May through July 2010.  According to Flightstats, the top provider of international flights real-time information and performance to the global community, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is the world's most punctual airliner in 2010 just like in 2009.

Ryanair, which is Europe’s biggest low-cost carrier, comes in at number two with 69.18% rating in punctuality, British Airways at 68.22%, and EasyJet at just 52.45%.  Last Mat, easyJet's average delayed flights at UK was 26 minutes.  Sir Stelios Haji-Ioanno, easyJet's founder, in light with EasyJet's disappointing rating said in a statement that he will withdraw their "easy" brand license if they couldn't cut their average delay down to fifteen minutes or less by 26 October 2010.  Still, Spanish carrier Iberia gets the axe with only 45.92% rating in punctuality.

In the US, Hawaiian Airlines eat its North America Airlines by an astounding 92.35% punctuality with Alaska Airlines at 88.12%.  United Airlines got 82.30%, US Airways with 82.05%, and Cape Air at 54.33% punctuality rates.

On the other side of the globe, Japan's Air Nippon is the most punctual airline with a 90.95% rating with only 6 minutes in average delay.

The Monaco Treatment: Helicopter-to-Plane Transfers

Posted: 28 Aug 2010 07:41 AM PDT

Want to feel like James Bond?  Visit Monaco!  No, we're not talking about donning a sleek black suit and being all goddamn handsome but hey, that's not a bad idea either.  We're talking about helicopter-to-plane transfers from the Nice International Airport to the Principality by no other than Heli Air Monaco.

Since 1976, Heli Air Monico has been transferring 100,000 passengers annually with an estimated 30 flight daily from the Nice Airport to Monaco.  They can also get you to several destinations in Italy, Switzerland, and France in their private flight service.  Famous for their specialty in transporting heavy equipment, TV reports, and movie shootings, Heli Air Monaco is now the official transportation of all Monte-Carlo Hotels.com's passengers.  Guests are treated to a convenient transfer from the Nice International Airport to the hotel while feeling the James Bond vibe and enjoying the magnificent sights in as little as six minutes.

At present, guests still have to check in and pass security once they land at the airport, but renovations are ongoing that will enable the guests to clear security at Heli Air Monaco.  Once it kicks off, guests can now land on the departure lounge to wait for their scheduled flights.  How convenient is that?

This kind of JB treatment has been done for the big shots in the US:  Wall Street taking the JFK helicopters for their Delta flight.  And of course, there's the elite passengers of the Pan American World Airways fly from their Midtown headquarters straight to their JFK flights.  And now we have Nice Airport to Monaco and back for the luxurious price of 103 Euros.

Fashion Week’s Big Names to stay at these NYC Hotels

Posted: 28 Aug 2010 07:31 AM PDT

New York City's Fashion Week will kick off this September 9 but the air already smells of couture and cocktails.  If you failed to snag the best seats in the fashion shows, then hurry and make reservations at any of these top five hotels in New York City to catch a glimpse of the world-famous designers, models, stylists, and fashion editors before they hit the runway.  Choose your pick and make reservations before they're all booked up.

#1 Choice:  The Mandarin Oriental

The Mandarin Oriental is a five star hotel that sits on top of Time Warner Center and offers 248 stylishly elegant suites and guestrooms all with an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.  That's one of the reasons why famous people choose to stay here during the NY trip.  If that's not enough to satiate your culture palate, come and experience one of NY's best restaurants Asiate.  After a hard day's work, what fashion vulture would resist the largest spa in Manhattan—the 14,500 square foot Mandarin Oriental Spa.  This 5 star hotel has its array of famous celebrities who have enjoyed their stay at $795 per night:  Liam Neeson, Lance Armstrong, Jerry Hall, and Jane Seymour to name a few.

#2 Choice: The Empire Hotel

This four star hotel is a few steps away from the Central Park in the Upper West Side.  If you're into European elegance like Blair Waldorf and can afford the "Fashion Week Rates" at $389-$529, then this is your best choice for two reasons:  one, the Lincoln Center is just across the street; two, it's most famous attraction is the fashionably chic roof top lounge that is well-known for its classy runways shows and of course, the after parties.  Not only will you be able to see fashion's most famous names in the flesh, you might just get lucky and sip cocktails with them after the show. How's that for your back-to-school story to your friends?

#3 Choice:  The Hudson Hotel

If you're after the diversity and boldness of the city, The Hudson Hotel is your best choice, after all it's Fashion Week.  Veering away from the traditional clean designs of most hotels, The Hudson Hotel reeks of what the next generation calls the "Cheap Chic"—democratic, cool, stylish, and downright artistic. Plus, it's Philippe Starck design is definitely an invigorating NY experience for you that you'll get into the design hype in no time flat.  While it doesn't have an impressive roof deck, it does have a wide courtyard and the Good Units—the new night spot located in the basement of the hotel, a definite hot spot for models and designers.  Fashion Week rates start at  $289 per night.

#4 Choice:  6 Columbus

Sleekness, tranquility, and sophistication, people in the fashion industry are in search for these three when they want some work done during the frenzy of the Fashion Week.  And that's why it's not surprising that even the best names in this crazy industry opt to stay at 6 Columbus.  Apart from its proximity to the uptown fashion action, it also features the works of world-famous fashion photographers, Guy Bourdin, in every room.  Very apt, we should say.  With only 90 rooms starting at $390 per night, hurry up and book a reservation before it's too late.

#5 Choice:  The Standard

We really don't know why The Standard Hotel has been a constant hot spot for celebrities and big names during Fashion Week but it's a fact.  Its façade looks like a futuristic, gigantic robot in mid-stride and don't expect the same view you can get from one of the four hotels mentioned above. It's a paparazzi wonderland but this fact could easily explain why it's a hot spot for celebrities and the venue for a string of elite dinners and after-parties.  We really don't know why, especially since it's a good 15-minute drive from the Lincoln Center but still, The Standard Hotel is on our top 5 list.  The rates for Fashion Week start at $506 per night.  If you're into the Fashion Frenzy and Lady Gaga paparazzi, book a room here.
