Even though I don't have an A/S I think I can answer this one.
Note that the recall is for models with "hydraulic brake controllers."
I believe this ONLY relates to trailers delivered with the optional disc
brakes -- which are hydraulic. Most of you (Hunter included) have
electric drum brakes -- in which case this recall would not pertain to
you.
Trailers equipped with disc brakes (such as my SOB 5th Wheel trailer)
need some way of converting the electrical signal sent from their tow
vehicle's brake controller (such as a Prodigy) into hydraulic pressure
to actuate the disc brakes. This thing is actually an electric
hydraulic pump connected to the disc brake's hydraulic master cylinder
and it lives somewhere in the trailer.
When I put my foot on the brake in my truck, the brake controller sends
a 12v braking signal to this hydraulic pump/controller thing and its
motor creates hydraulic pressure which actuates the disc brakes.
It's this hydraulic pump/controller thing that I believe is being
recalled.
If you don't have disc brakes in your trailer -- then I don't think this
recall pertains to your rig.
