Almost 47 years ago my 17 yr old girlfriend (later to become my wife) and I came
home from a farm auction with a floor model console windup Victrola. My mother
said, "I wish I'd known you wanted that. Our old one is probably still over the
hill behind the old house, where we threw it when we got electricity." My dad
said, "What are you ever going to do with that." We said that we were going to
sell it and make a lot of money. We only paid $10.00 and it was worth $100.
Dad said, "How do you know it's worth $100. ? and we replied, "We saw one at the
Antique Show last weekend and the guy had $100. on it."
Mom said, "But did you see it SELL?" Before we could answer, "No", my dad said,
"Son, even if you did see it sell, all you'd know for sure is that there are two
damned fools in the world who think it's worth that."
I don't think it's what he had in mind, but what WE took from that comment was,
we can sell anything and make big bucks. We just have to find the other fool.
Until eBay- if it's auction, you have find have to find TWO fools to bid against
each other ;o)

Hunter,
As you know, asking and getting are two very different things. I have
seen some amazing asking prices at car shows, I don't think that most
people are very interesting in selling, but as you know, everything is
for sale at the right price.
