Re: [tabtrailers] Shortest TAB ownership in history?

Hi Nancy,

Sorry to hear about your condition and the resulting lifting limit but glad to know that you are physically NOT in pain anymore!

I was going to get back to you on a separate email about owning one of the "end of production" T@Bs with electric brakes etc...

In my opinion, the pros for having electric brakes are:
- ability to have control of braking characteristic with the use of an electronic brake controller
- ability to manually apply braking in certain conditions via the electronic brake controller
- no hydraulic system to maintain

The cons:
- the need to install electronic brake controller in tow vehicle
- the need to understand and adjust the electronic brake controller
- no handbrake on the frame thus requiring additional care when trailer is unhitched (with choking the wheels which one should regardless)

Please note that these are just my opinion and therefore may not be shared or apply to everyone else!

In terms of prices etc... that I really do not know but I did come across a TS for sale by a dealer in IL:
http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/listing/2010-T%40B-TQT-97354886

Also take a look of the listing on craigslist across the US, the price range is interesting:
http://www.craiglook.com/rvs.html?q=T%40B

Well, the fact that the unit we bought came with electric brakes, black power coated frame, different wheels, lack of the L-shape window trim on the outside, silver door on a white body etc... did not stop us from buying it. I was also looking at some units with the black frames being offered by some dealers in the US around the time we got ours and they all got sold not long after we got ours.

IMHO, the important thing is that the potential buyer should be made aware of the differences of your unit from a regular production unit (remember your surprises when you found out the differences).

Anyway, good luck with your back and also with selling your T@B. I am almost tempted to buy it so that we can have a spare one sitting around but my wife will not like the idea :(.

BTW, are you selling your awning? If so, I shall be totally interested in buying it!

Best wishes,
Mervyn

Subject: [tabtrailers] Shortest TAB ownership in history?

Hi Gang,
Well, I re-herniated my L5S1 disc and had emergency discectomy last sunday. So I'm back to minimal sitting, no lifting over 8#, etc. Fortunately, I can once again stand, sit and walk, and I'm not in agonizing pain. Kudos to my neurosurgeon!

But I've been told that the 25# lifting limit I was up to before I reherniated is the max. lifting I will be doing for life. Being a single TAB owner, you can see how this might not work out.

Malibu Barbie Camper TAB is a 2010 with the built in Thetford Cassette commode. As far as I can tell, it's a TST model. I was looking on NADA values list, and I wasn't coming up with the commode option.

It's also on the TADA frame with electric brakes, vs. surge breaks.

Anyone have any guesses as to whether that is a plus or a minus?

Nancy
