Valerie, The Tropos spare tire carrier won't affect the brake handle or the dolly wheel crank if mounted as instructed. It is a very sturdy, and handy place for your spare, as it is easy to check the tire pressure, and access when you experience a flat. It is easy to install and comes in two colors- black and gray. If you have the clamshell, it will not fit. If you have a truck with a bed, you can buy a rail mounted spare tire holder that would hold the spare on the side of the bed.
