I have not had this happen, however i would speculate that it is a low voltage warning. Do you know what your voltage reading was? Were you on shore power or battery? I would not think that the 12vdc fridge would care how hot it is outside. . .
The vent in the floor (i assume that is what you are refering to) is speculated to be a fresh air inlet and possibly a equalization vent if all windows and ceiling vent are closed. Some venting and fresh air are always needed. . .
