[A/S] Re: Armstrong AC Units & R12 R22 R134

"Hot Shot" is the ICOR trade name for the blended refrigerant know as R-414B.

INGREDIENT NAME WEIGHT % Chlorodifluoromethane 50 Wt. %
2-Chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane 38 WT. %
1-Chloro-1,1-difluoroethane, HCFC-142b 9.5 WT. %

So it is a blend of ethane and methane product to nearly match the properties of R-12. IT should not be mixed into R-12 in a system. The R-12 should be completely removed and then charged with R-12.

R-414B id fully compatable with the elastomers and oils used with R-12, so there is no problem changing refrigerants. Unlike R-12 that can be charged as a vapor, R-414B MUST be charged intot he system as a liquid.
