Re: [tabtrailers] Re: Water pump problems

THANKS to Al for his helpful information.  Furthermore, Karen, I would not consider removing the tank to fill it.  It would be much too heavy--and difficult to get under the shelf.  I, too, have a hose that I run from a faucet to the tank.  Works very well!!  I may have to live with "spit & sputter" from the faucet?!?!

Lorraine, you do NOT need to take the tank out to fill it.  I have a fresh water hose and a wand with a shut off, I always fill mine in place.

Hello Lorraine, AKA: Gullible old lady

I don't know what model Sureflo you purchased, but to hopefully make you feel better about your nest egg being shoveled to the wind. Here is what I know about this subject.

First you purchased a Sureflo, and in my book its one of the best. I just replaced a cheap pump with a SF [ which I should have installed first ] It cost me $87 with out tax. Now I would have paid close to what you paid, had I had some ones labor charge added on, but I can do this stuff.

Oh! Good idea not to over tighten clamps on plastic fittings.

OK now the water in the lines falling back to the tank after you shut it off. That will happen because of the location of the pump. Being that it is above the water source with out a check valve, and the supply line [ I assume ] Is entering from the top of the tank to the bottom. If the pump was mounted at or below the level of the water in the tank. There would always be a supply of water filling the air void that you get from allowing the water to fall out from the pump  [ causing sputtering ] and back to the tank.
The only way to remedy this.  Is to move the supply line to the bottom of the tank.
Again assuming you have the OEM  plastic carry tank this will be difficult, as the tank will have to be removed to be filled and hard to do with the supply line fixed to the bottom of the tank.
You are in the phase of what I call the TLC mode of making your Tab, Your Tab. And we all know it takes a lot of TIME LABOR< AND CASH. To make it right.

Hope this helps. You are on the right track. Don't give up. AL, Taxitab
