Hi Amy
Imagine you are out camping in the middle of no where. Say at the ocean. No telephone poles or signs of man. You arrive fully charged and are going to enjoy a month of the ocean and sand experience.
Lets say you set up camp and you haul out a large but quiet solar panel, and plug in to the battery system. Next you haul out a small suitcase sized, but 49 lb Honda generator. You put gas in it and plug it in to the shore power cord on the Tab.
The rest is enjoy the sunny quiet fresh air days of sun and fun
..Oh but wait? Its getting foggy. And every day for three days, Fog . No worries. You have the Honda. One pull and everything but the Cool Cat comes to life and the batteries are being charged. However the quiet, and a little of the fresh air are gone because of the hum and smell of exhaust, but only for an hour or two. Once the batteries are up to charge you shut the Honda off and read a good book.
Solar and Generator both have their perks. One is big and bulky, but doesn't make a peep. It also doesn't make electricity on cloudy days.
The generator is small but heavy and noisy, but makes electricity any time you need it and will power a blender!
Neither will change your life much. But a whole month a the ocean with all that salt sun and sand and wind and bugs and fog and
.. Well that will change it a little. LOL.
Jan and I chose the Honda 2000. Its a little peace of mind in a red suitcase. Have fun. AL, Taxitab

I did get a "bale out" by the Lewis's (thanks Richard and Sue!) but, let to my own devices, (and in light of my upcoming dry camping rally), how will NOT having a generator change my camping experience...
