We use a 'Coleman' 'Black Cat' propane heater. very small, has catalitic element (no carbon monoxide), just screws on to a 1 pound propane cylinder. ALWAYS PROVIDE FRESH AIR VENTING, I open the roof vent just a little.
We normally do not boondock in cold weather, usually use a ceramic electric heater when shore power is available, but carry the 'Black Cat' just in case.
Installing a furnace would be possible, however I would consider the lost storage space and the few times it would be used. If you chose to have a furnace installed I would recommend professonal intsallation, with propane gas lines and proper venting it needs to be done correctly. . .
