You have answered all my questions, except about the rail but it will come to me sooner or later.
It didn't occur to me that the fridge wouldn't make a noise even though I didn't see a compressor.
I will be replacing the converter but I've got to work out where the smaller wires go before I put 12 volts to them. There is a big gob of wires where the radio should be. I did replace the corroded c battery in the clock and it worked. So far when I work out, or you'll tell me how something is support to work it does.
