Re: [tabtrailers] Re: FJ PERFECT marriage to the T@B

We drive a yellow FJ with the mellow yellow t@b. It is fun to see the looks as we drive by! We are able to open the back door completely with our extended stinger for the hitch.

WOW what a beautiful picture! It looks like the FJ was made for the T@b or vise versa. It has that whole retro look going on.  I own a silver T@b with the black FJ, but I just love the yellow combo! I had a different TV  that was much lower to the ground and what a drag and then replaced it with the FJ ....tows like a charm doesn't it!

We have been really pleased with the towing characteristics of the FJ with the t@b.  The wheelbase seems fine to us.  Very easy to maneuver the t@b into a camping space or just around parking lots etc..

We also place our cooler back there, same thought process...just open the gate, get the dogs in/out and grab something from the cooler.

We have the clamshell model, but I "think" the measurement from the FRONT of the al-ko frame to the jockey wheel is the same.  If you've removed the jockey wheel, then you'd probably have about 6-7" additional inches to open the rear gate.

These two pics give some idea of the set up.  The bottom photo is before we installed the diamond plate box, but it's the jockey wheel that the door strikes first.
Hope this helps.

PS. We are also used to using the little mirrors with our Dodge Cargo Van--lot of blind spots there with no rear driver side windows!

It opens far enough for us to get our dogs in/out and to reach stuff that's close to the rear. We pack stuff in there accordingly.
