I once had my Airstream in for service at the Oasis Service Center Tucson
and "stole" an idea I saw on another Airstreamer's unit. It basically
involved welding a receiver piece onto the top of the Hensely stinger as seen
here:

and then another piece of iron between that and the Blue Ox Sport Guard mud
flaps adapted for the purpose...

You could then slide the mud flap mechanism into the new receiver welded
to the top of the Hensley stinger and secure it with another hitch lock.
You can then run with or without the mudflaps as you wish (though I always
do, but remove them when I reach my destination... )

Another idea I once saw but have yet to weld on to the top on the sting/mud
flap assembly is a lifting handle...
