With all the wisdom now being exchanged on towing vehicles, I would like to seek some advice.
I have been thinking about purchasing a used Airstream, but don't know if my truck is suited to towing it.
I have a Chevrolet Colorado with five-cylinder 3.5 liter engine and automatic transmission. The suspension is the standard truck-type, neither the low-slung street version nor the off-road version. It has a frame-mounted Draw-Tite hitch.
On examining some numbers, it appears that a 28-foot Airstream is about triple both the rated towing capacity and tongue weight. Yet I have seen travel trailers towed by vehicles I would consider less capable.
