Howdy;
Wife and I were at the top of Pikes Peak a couple years back. I was OK at 12,ooo ft. but once up there felt a little wierd and walked around in slow motion for awhile. Drank alot of water. Didn't get altitude sick but just felt weird. Wasn't used to it I guess. Wife also the same.
Had my old Dodge conv. van at Wilkerson pass at between 9500 and 10,000 ft. and it did OK and so did we. In Late July and there was some snow on the ground. Saw a guy towing an old Shasta into the rest area and got a pic. I will post in a folder of wierd trailer sightings. Beautiful panoramic view from there. Towed my old 74 BMW bike out there and had it up to just shy of 10,000 ft. with carb and timing tweeking. It did OK but lost some of it's oompf.
I think the twin turbo V-6 just might do it. 2 turbos will push alot of air. I'm going to research this engine. To have a V-6 handle that kind of cylinder pressure the engine from top down would have to be super beefy. I mean super head bolts and gaskets, alloy pistons that wouldn't expand much, H.D. wrist pins, rods, forged crank and 4 bolt mains I would suppose. To pull that weight with a V-6 the bottom end would have to be ROCK solid. And the turbos at 1700 degrees? What kind of motor oil? Had to be full synthetic. I dont think petroleum based oil could handle it.
