So did mine when it was young. Now about 30 mpg.
I venture to guess that Andy Thompson wouldn't recommend a Jetta as a tow
vehicle per se, but simply wants to demonstrate that 'it can be done'. I
think he likes to antagonize the "bigger is better" faction. Love his sample

Of course, it isn't towing an Airstream....
