Make sure you go the Yosemite website for instructions to make reservations if you plan to camp in the park.

There may not be much water the first part of Sep, but do hike to the top of Vernal Falls, it's a nice hike. It shouldn't be so crowded that time of year. It's always informative to take a shuttle tour or ranger led hike, I always learn a lot I would have missed.
You'll spend a lot of time on reservation land during your drive to Painted Desert, so plan accordingly as far as gas and supplies (no alcohol available)

Subject: [tabtrailers] Grand Canyon, Yosemite & beyond
Dane & I are planning to travel from Missouri to the Painted Desert, Grand Canyon, Sequoia & Yosemite Natl parks, San Franscisco & back through Salt Lake, Wyoming, Nebraska Kansas & home :)!!! I traveled this route once as a child, but is our 1st trip together out west & we may never manage to repeat this. We are planning on 3 days for the Grand Canyon & Yosemite, but most stops will only be for a day. Any highlights, suggestions or must-see/do pointers would be greatly appreciated, especially in Yosemite, where neither of us have ever been. We are planning this trip for the 1st part of September, if that changes the see & do list.
Thanks in advance for the help. This is one of the trips I dreamed of when we bought our T@B 5 years ago & I can't wait to make it a reality :)
