Re: [tabtrailers] Re: Clamshell: Damp, moldy floor up front : (

I was looking at it this past fall and will look at it again this spring. Mine looked pretty well sealed. I hope to get to the bottom of it as well. I now travel with a towel by the door if it's raining.

Carrie, at least my CS is in the garage; but it's as cold as Alaska out there! I am gonna get to the bottom of the problem, though, because if that sheet of plywood goes we might as well tow our T@B to the junkyard : ( . Rainwater flows down the front of the T@B and hits the aluminum trim strip. I haven't taken that area apart, but I will in the spring. Several items are located there: the bottom of the alufiber, the front edge of the plywood, the tarp-like sheet that protects (maybe) the plywood, and all covered by the trim strip which is NOT necessarily keeping all of that stuff watertight. As time goes on, I feel less and less confident that the construction methods used on T@BS were any guarantee of longevity.

I've thrown some silicagel packs in there to see if that helps. This summer I will make a vent hole for it. Right now my poor Clamshell is froze solid in the front yard waiting patiently for summer.

Have any of you clamshell owners figured out the source of the moisture? I don't know if the leading edge of the floor system is picking up water from the outside...or the door lets water in somehow? I would love to avoid reinventing the wheel if any of you have been through this : ) John <>{
