Re: [tabtrailers] Re: What do we think about renting out our T@Bs?

There are probably some liability aspects to this. You probably should check if your T@B insurance excludes rentals. If someone did something stupid, as simple as tripping down the step, and was injured you might be on the end of some major legal problems.

I dont't think it's too crazy of an idea. If you came up with a good screening process that would put your mind at ease with who you're renting to, why not make a buck or two? I've thought about renting our Scotty, but in a different way. With Indy hosting the Super Bowl next year, I had this idea of offering it as a place to stay instead of an expensive hotel room which will gouge you probably several hundred $$$ a night for a cheapy place, based on the hotel rates around here during Indy 500 time. I thought maybe $100-night, parked in our driveway with electric. Ahh, but that idea was quickly shot down by the co-owner..."I don't want strangers staying in our Scotty!". And so the idea faded into the sunset...

We still owe close to 1ok on our '07 clamshell, and we use it for 2 serious vacations and a couple of short getaways per season. If we "qualify the customer" beforehand, why not advertise it for rent to the tune of...I don't know, $250/week to a couple who has a serious interest? Any thoughts?
