I think it's a fine idea in concept, but if you're looking to reduce your bills, it might not be the way to go.
The target market for potential renters could likely include people who have little or no experience trailering a camper. Yes, it's easy to learn once you have done it a few times and have the checklist, but if my own learning experiences would be any indication of what a renter might go through, I'd rather not pay a lot of $$$ for the mistakes.
Perhaps consider co-owning your T@b with another family or two?
There's lots of people out there who not only love the T@bs, but are in similar situations who camp only a few times each year. I've seen online carshare or truckshare co-ops that have examples of a contract you could sign with other parties. It outlines the time, maintenance, and insurance responsibilities. That way you know what to expect and the parties involved have a greater sense of responsibility to take care of the T@b. It seems like a win-win to me: reduce your financial obligation and ensure that the T@b is well-loved.
Good luck!

We still owe close to 1ok on our '07 clamshell, and we use it for 2 serious vacations and a couple of short getaways per season. If we "qualify the customer" beforehand, why not advertise it for rent to the tune of...I don't know, $250/week to a couple who has a serious interest? Any thoughts?
