[tabtrailers] Re: Tada leveling Jacks

Jerry, this thread was posted some time ago, but what happened to me was based on several conditions I think...

1. The age of my T@B '04 #0393
2. The pot metal construction of the screw housing
3. The fact that I used a DeWalt 18v drill to raise and lower and sometimes tried to go the wrong direction probably over stressing them

The screw sleeves cracked on three of the stabilizers making them loose and the stabilizer leg would not raise or lower. The actual stabilizers are fine. Someone on here did get replacement threads but don't remember where the post is.

So I now use the small aluminum stands that I had purchased for the myPOD. I got them for less than $30 for a set of four on sale at camping world. They are small, light weight and rated for more than enough to handle the T@B. In actual use they are fine. In fact they are about as easy to set up as the T@B stabilizers are to put up and down.

I did use some of the plastic plumbing strap with the holes in it to screw over the original stabilizers to hold them to the bottom of the T@B while traveling. Even though they don't seem be too loose when up I got to thinking about the disaster that I'd have if they dropped down when towing... especially the front ones!

There are four pictures previously posted on page two of my album at Mike and Jackie's T@Bventures.

Here's a link to one: http://tinyurl.com/4se73az

As to what will work. I think any stabilizer that will mount to the frame will work(and of course the free standing ones like mine). I did not like the stabilizers that were on my pop up as they had to be adjusted with a snap up action and a rod. They were a pain to use and get small adustments . The screw action seems to be easier.

Also, I recall someone looking for an alternative replacement stabilizer sometime back. If you can provide a source, others may be interested.
