[tabtrailers] Re: Tada leveling Jacks

This is a repeat of our useage of the Bal Tire Leveler but I am referring to the comment that there are more than one size of levelers. There might be, in fact, but I believe that there is only one type of an actual leveler that would be nice to have for a TAB or TADA.

The Camping World in Fife, Washington only had ONE size of this type of Bal tire leveler. We found sometimes after using ours with our TAB with no trouble at all ,and then going to the TADA useage,we would have a hard time inserting it into position when the tires were still warm from travel.(Tire size was larger.)

If we waited a few min. until the tire cooled down, it went right around the tire though.

Finally,we pried the whole thing apart about a ?? of an inch or less!( a very small amount was all it needed) but not enough to bother the stability of the leveler at all.

Never have had a problem since. We use ours now on our present larger trailer. It says on the box, for small trailers only.It has worked just fine, even with the larger ultralite trailer. Terry

First, we use one on our T@Da (Picasso) all the time with no problem and with plenty of "room". Second, BAL levelers come in different sizes, so you must buy the one that fits your tire size. Third, to carry the BAL while in transit visit a restaurant supply store and get a padded pizza delivery bag. Be sure to check the measurements before you go! That pizza bag has been wonderful for carrying the BAL.

They are small, light weight and rated for more than enough to handle the T@B. In actual use they are fine. In fact they are about as easy to set up as the T@B stabilizers are to put up and down.

Even though they don't seem be too loose when up I got to thinking about the disaster that I'd have if they dropped down when towing... especially the front ones!

I did not like the stabilizers that were on my pop up as they had to be adjusted with a snap up action and a rod. They were a pain to use and get small adustments . The screw action seems to be easier.

Also, I recall someone looking for an alternative replacement stabilizer sometime back. If you can provide a source, others may be interested.
