[tabtrailers] Re: Windows stuck in open position...

John, when you lubricate the window standoff tracks, be aware that there is a small metal part that is in the track, and can fall out. This part is not attached, but is held in by spring tension. It snaps into the slots in the track to hold the window open. If worn, it can slide out of position and jam the mechanism preventing the window from closing, or if out of position, can fall out and prevent window from standing open. If replacing the track mechanism order a set of two, for the front and rear tracks are not the same. McT@B #0032

I wish I had an understanding of what goes on inside those supports. If I can get a pic in my mind of what goes on mechanically, I can usually figure out a solution. Maybe I'll take one apart when the weather warms up.

I wrote to Gary off-forum, but for the sake of others who have had to play with theirs to get them to come down, I will repeat the 'fix' for them. I was able to push the sticky side up a little higher to get it to release--there is a little flex in the window, but try not to break anything. I haven't had the problem for years since using some silicone dry lubricant as you recommend. A nice idea to add that to one's yearly preparation check-off list.

It will eventually close if you are patient. Sometimes I'll push inwards on the side of the support as I'm trying to close it and that will free it to go down.

I can see movement in the locking unit when the window is lifted to it's highest point which disengages the lock allowing the window to be closed but it's just not staying disengaged. It slips back into a lock position thus, not allowing the window to come down. I'd appreciate any help in this manner. Please post a reply here on this site but if you wouldn't mind please also send an e-mail directly to me at scubadoogary@
