I use the factory coupler lock while towing too. Not only is it extra insurance while towing, but you could pull into a rest area or gas station and while you are away someone could unhitch from your vehicle and take off with the T@B. No so easy if the coupler lock is in place. I know, sounds unlikely that this would happen, but it would be my luck that the first time I didn't put it on there I'd return to find the T@B gone. Not going to chance that!

For the nay-sayers - I use my factory lock as a little extra insurance while towing. Not that I'm afraid that it's going to pop off while driving, but should it happen, I've taken "necessary precautions". I'm not so worried about straight-out theft (my propane bottle would walk much sooner than my trailer), but I have a masterlock that fits in the hitch when we've unhitched.

I just picked one of the "factory" hitch locks today. Folsom Lake RV got them from Dutchman. They have several left and I'm sure you could get one sent to you.
