[tabtrailers] Re: Is stylin' worth the cost, or, what price for a lid

 

The OEM ABS tank covers have been known for developing cracks at the mounting points to the frame. I removed our cover and added adhesive weather stripping, like used for pickup bed tops, between the frame rails and cover. I also add metal grating in the bottom of the cover. This distributes the stress to the mounting points, thus reducing the likelyhood of cracks developing. I also riveted an 3/8" aluminum angle across the back of the tank cover to reduce vibration due to the air flow over the cover at highway speed.
