RE: [A/S] Re: Vintage Airstream Insurance

This is what the original request said

Hi Hunter! A neighbor is restoring a 1969 Airstream and cannot find any
insurance company to write a policy for anything older than 1971. Any
suggestions? ~Jill~
The issue is how to insure the "restoration" part of your trailer (and that
is where photos, receipts and appraisals come into play). If you only need
to insure what you paid for the trailer that is a different issue..although
that too can become an issue for a vintage trailer..how to determine
value..what has value to a vintage trailer enthusiast and what has value to
an insurance company that deals with depreciating autos may be woefully
different and you might not know that unfortunately unless you have a
claim..

So just adding it to your auto policy may work for you and it may not..that
is the issue IMHO.

Hi Folks,

In regards to Insurance, I use USAA ( U.S. Automobile Association). This is
open to folks that have been connected to the military in some way. I know
it does not apply to everyone, but if you are able to take advantage of
this, you should look into it. They will cover the full purchase price of my
'71 Caravel for $10.00 a month added on to my Auto policy. Hard to beat. My
trailer was in exceptional condition when I bought it.

Regards,

Toni W.
