Carolyn,
That stuff is so tough it's unbelievable.
In our shop we would trim off the edges at one end for about 4-6". With
one person feeding the insert into the track a second would grip the
"tongue" with pliers or vise grips and pull it through the track. Once
you get going the entire front trim track can be done in a minute or
two. A little spritz of silicone in the track before hand helps.
For shorter pieces we had some success with folding in over into a U
shape and snapping it into the track.
