Lloyd, the newer WFCO converter is supposed to have the reverse polarity protection built in. In this case, everything worked OK (except for the battery) after correcting the battery hookup, but my thinking is that the battery was likely ruined when hooking up to the tow vehicle and completely discharging the trailer battery with the reverse charge from the tow vehicle. I think replacing the battery will (has) solve(d) the problem. Like you, I love troubleshooting, so would have helped out if possible.

Yes, there is a fuse or fuses that protect the converter. I did that once myself on our big camper. Couldn't get the slide to work or the lights to brighten. i had blown both 40amp fuses.
