I've been using this antenna/adapter for some time now and have been very pleased with it:

It is much easier to carry, set up and even allows changing antennas to achieve greater gain. The best part is that is costs $32 bucks.
I generally use it with the attached antenna iside the TAB with the unit attached to the window via suction cup. It comes with a 5db antenna but I have an 18db antenna that I can mount outside if needed.
I can park outside McD's or Panera and get an good/excellent signal from inside our T@B.
