When I open the shades I rotate the bar (grab the handle palm down and rotate your fingers toward your wrist). It angles the bar out of the slot. The previous owners of my T@B didn't really know how to do the shades, so I had to figure it out (wasn't on this list yet).

LOL, Ok Heather, can you share with me the "secrets" to operating the windows and shades since it sounds like you figured out the trick. I dont want to break anything forcing it the wrong way.
