Recently, I read a post on this forum (it may have been one of Sandra's)that the proper ball height from pavement is 16-17 inches. I measured mine, and it was a freckle over 16 at the center of the ball.
My response was that I'm in good shape. After I arrived back home from the wonderful Blue Ridge Rally, and before I unhitched the T@B, I measured again. This time, with the trailer coupled to the tow vehicle, the height of the center of the ball was approximately 14 inches.
So my questions are:
(1)What should the height of the ball be from the pavement when the T@B is coupled to the tow vehicle?
And (2), does the two inch variation between the ball-height when coupled and when uncoupled signify that I need to do something about stiffening the shocks, or the like, in my tow vehicle (a Ford F-150, already equipped with the heavy-duty-shocks option)?
