Take 285 out of Denver. At Salida take 50 towards Gunnison. Do NOT miss the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Nat. Park. Take 92 to Delta. 550 out of Delta goes over 3 passes to Durango. I noticed that, at the time, there was a campground of some sort at the peak of one of those campgrounds. I wish I had known so I could have stayed there. From Durango go see Mesa Verde park. Then I went on to see the Grand Canyon.
When I did it, I left Denver in the morning and camped in Delta and Mesa Verde park. This is some of most fantastic scenery in Colorado.
