I am sorry that i didn't get back to you sooner on the Moen faucet problem.

If the faucet is a Moen single lever - made fince the mid 50s, you can
usually repair it by changng tthe valve cartridge. [a $30.00 or so item)

Al Moen invented this system, which was the first single lever design that
not only worked, but held up well, and was easy to maintain.
