RE: [A/S] Re: Sea Air on my AS?

Daisy,

There is a product out there that was developed to protect aluminum boats
that are used in salt water. I've been testing it as a potential replacement
for the hopeless clear coat systems used over the years. The nice thing
about it is that it can be applied with a cloth & additional coats can be
applied as required by simply wiping it over the previous coat, as it is
"self etching". Although the thickness will vary using this application
method, polished trailers will not look perfect, but it will protect the
surface. It's called "Sharkhide" & costs about $80/qt.

I think a bigger concern will be the acceleration of the chassis rust on
your trailer as the salty humid air will be absorbed into the insulation in
your belly pan & fester. I have seen numerous examples of completely rusted
out chassis on trailers that spent a good portion of their lives in Florida
& out on Cape Hatteras NC. Sadly, extreme examples have had their tongues
fall off on their own, rendering them untowable.

Hopefully this doesn't scare you off, as I'm sure you'll have a wonderful
time out there.

Colin
