Hi Camilla,

The toilet in my '73 was not original, and had the same problem. The
previous owner had saved all paper work, and so I was able to actually
find the part number and a source. BUT. I was told by an RV repair guy
that it is a difficult fix, you sort of need four hands to get all the
springs and things lined up. That didn't scare me off, but then he
pointed out that his experience had been that the plastic parts in the
toilet's guts are going to get brittle and break. So you might just go
through all this to actually locate the part and find that the things
the new part have to be attached to will break off in your hand.

I'm a fan of keeping original equipment, still have original AC and
fridge!!!, but plastic is plastic. I keep patching the shower liner, but
I think you will be better off to get a new toilet.......

If your toilet is not plastic, then the above may not apply, but you
still have to know who made it and when.....

Have you taken a mirror to look behind it?
Have you contacted Cayo to find out what they put in in '62?
