Hi Anne. We, too have a '62 GT and... tires, brakes and axle were the first
things to have done on her. I attended the Vintage Restoration Rally in
June (2nd year in a row) & sat in on the workshop discussing axles.
Basically, after nearly 50 years, the rubber in the axel is shot. Your AS
guy in Texas is incorrect. The axle may look fine from the outside,
visually, but cut one open, like Luke did at the rally & you can see the
petrified rubber inside. Please, change it out with the brakes, your GT
will thank you:).

Thanks -- Sounds as if there's a new axle in Tramper's future --- That was
our original plan but after talking with the A/S guy in Texas began having
our doubts......Cost is NEVER worth safety.
Are there any short cuts going from Mississippi to New York ?
A.........
