RE: [A/S] Calling all EE's Too much aluminum for the radio

The question of too much aluminum is a valid one.

With aluminum or copper screens, your Airstream becomes what is known as a
Faraday Cage (named after the English chemist and physicist, Michael
Faraday, who invented it in 1856).

Essentially, the cage is an enclosure of electrically conductive material
(metal) which shields the interior from electrostatic fields (which also
includes radio waves). Thus, no reception.

Plastic (non electrically conductive screen material - fiberglass or saran)
would reduce the shielding effect.

Bottom line: you need an external antenna.
