I have the MaxxAir Fan Mate on the bathroom vent, I figure that is the one that I always want to be able to open Works great on all but the top speed which I don't use in there anyway. One side is on a hinge with a couple of of wing nuts on the other side, that make it easy to open and clean. The fan cover on my old SOB only need light, infrequent cleaning, but I am not full timing. I still think it is worthwhile to be able to have a vent open all of the time in pretty much all types of weather. BTW the Fan Mate is a newer model that is designed for use with higher speed fans.
