[A/S] Re: Dead Ford Engine

The light went on in my Ford 150 4x4 in the DC area. We pulled over immediately, had it hauled to a dealer, only to have them tell us that the engine was toast and that the truck, really wasn't worth fixing. I had it towed to two other places, but clearly no one knew what was going on. So I had it towed back to my marina where my mechanic found that some gunk in the oil pan was being sucked into the system. (OK I admit this is not my area of expertise.) But parts were less than $1000 and the truck has been running like a top for over a year now.

Not worth fixing? Really? Are you SURE you need a new engine? Dealerships are not necessarily the way to go, except, of course, for the fact that you bought it there. Have you asked for the previous service records?

Wishing you the very best.
