The Overlanders make wonderful travel companions. I have owned my 1964 Overlander International Land Yacht since 1995, and it continues to be on of my favorite combinations of size and floorplan. The 1968 Overlander in question would have an approximate dry/empty weight of 4,170 pounds with a hitch weight of 435 pounds. A realistic weight when the coach is loaded and ready for travel would be somewhere around 5,850 and 6,100 pounds with a hitch weight of around 750 pounds. See: http://tinyurl.com/3lqoxkl
I enjoy towing my Vintage Airstreams with similar Vintage automobiles, and my towcars for the '64 Overlander include:
1965 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible -- 383 cubic inch V8, automatic transmission, and 3.93 rear differential.
1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible -- 501 cubic inch V8, 425 Turbohydramatic, 2.70 final drive ratio.
1999 GMC K2500 Suburban -- 454 V8 (VORTEC), automatic transmission, and 4.10 differential ratio.
To allow yourself some reserve capacity, a modern tow vehicle with an 8,000 pound or greater trailer to rating should be able to handle the '68 Overlander with ease.
