I read the XIT history on the city's website. The only thing I got right was that the investors paid for our beautiful state capital building. I've been out of middle school A VERY LONG TIME. Sorry. I even got the acreage wrong, and Hunter was totally right (as usual) - it WAS 3 MILLION acres. I'm one of the worst Texas braggers I know of, and even I just can not fathom a ranch that big. But the land looks so dry, it probably takes 1,000 acres or more to graze one cow. A young cowboy using several horses could begin at one end of the ranch & start rounding up the cattle & driving them to the other end of the ranch - once, before he'd reach (our modern) retirement age.
Steve was kind enough to say "I believe you are very close on your history of the XIT ranch."
