We follow the traditional Japanese practice: shoes off before entering
the a/s. For the sake of sound-deadening, several years ago we replaced
the carpet with extra-thick beige nylon. No problems have turned up
since. Yes, our 2 large dogs sometimes track in dirt. But a small
Shop-Vac gets rid of that quickly.

Just like in my wife's house. That is, wifey has a heater gizmo for her
coffee, and a minimum-size microwave. I packed a little propane camp
stove somewhere but I forget where and never have used it. In case
shore power is not available, we carry a 1000w Honda generator, which is
enough to power the microwave. We air condition by driving north.

Usually don't really eat out, but we do take advantage of the deli
counters in supermarkets and other such sources of semi-prepared food.

Can't tell you, too hot there for us and too far away. But by based
upon other gatherings, I'd guess you can buy almost anything there - a
more definitive answer, anyone?

Disgusting.
