Hi everyone! I have a small project with my furnace and thought maybe someone who has worked with these before could give me some tips.
I have just purchased a 1974 Silver Streak, and it has a Coleman 4030A-889 Furnace. It is in decent shape, but non-operational. It quit working for the last person, who bought a replacement Thermocouple which is too short. I'm sure that replacing the TC with the right size gets it running again, but while I've got it apart I want to do some restoration to it.
I have already taken out the manifold and cut new gaskets for it. The sheet metal around the manifold for heat transfer has some surface rust, and I am planning on removing the entire unit, disassembling, and restoring the metal using ceramic high-temp header coating for an automobile. I plan to cook it before I put it back it thinking that it shouldn't put any nasty fumes inside since the burned gas gets exhausted. While it's apart I want to make sure nothing is missing, so I need the original assembly diagrams.
Anyone have Assembly/Repair Diagrams?:
I have been able to find wiring diagrams online, but I cannot find a repair manual or anything with a parts diagram. If anyone has these could you please scan and post them?
Pilot Access cap:
Also, if anyone is familiar, I am looking at the access cap to the pilot which has a screw down metal cap about 1-1/2" Diameter with a hole in it. It looks to me like it might have had a piece of glass in it originally. Does anyone know if it had glass in it, or if it should be open like it is now?
Interested in buying your unit or NOS parts:
Any input is appreciated. I know some people are going to tell me just to replace it with a new Suburban Furnace, and I'm aware of this option, but I'd rather keep the Coleman since it's in such nice shape. If anyone has one of these furnaces in nice condition, or any NOS parts I'd be interested in buying them for spares.
Happy trails, and keep your shiny sides up!
