RE: [A/S] Re: Tow vehicle advice needed

We went to the LA Auto show and spent some time with a GMC factory
representative...based on our towing needs, he suggested the GMC 1500 Sierra
Extended cab...nice truck. Unfortunately it is too long to fit in our
garage...and I think it towed close to 10,000 lbs...we wanted it but have
settled on the GMC Yukon Denali with about 8400 towing capacity instead...it
fits in the garage..but we are not towing any ROCKS.

By the way, the rep told us to just go on line and build our own truck. I
told him we had tried doing that and it is very confusing unless you know
what you are looking for. So he did it for us and it took him about 45
minutes with his cheat sheets..and even then, he had some questions about
what came with some of the packages and options..it is not easy to specify
exactly what you want even if you know what you want...some things come with
certain packages...some things don't and it also varies with what part of
the country you are in...

Right now we are wrestling with getting our Denali's built in brake
controller to work...the dealer wants to go pick up our 68 28' Ambassador
and bring it into the shop to make it work...it is 40 miles away and it
needs a 2" ball..don't think his tow truck driver is set up for
that...yikes.

Teri,

You want a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton truck. (2500 or 3500) (Ford F-250 or 350)
Crew cab, short bed or long bed if you don't mind driving an ocean liner.

You want a Ford, Dodge or Chevy.

You want a diesel....

Hunter

Thanks Hunter.... can i ask one more question? My husband is deadset
against diesel, due to upkeep cost. Are gas engines just not going to do
what we need?

Thank you for ALL your help!
Teri
