Re: [A/S] 1962 ? ambassador

Hi Jerry and the Gang:
I use Dragon Naturally Speaking version 11.5. In matter of fact, I am using it right now to dictate this e-mail. I got an older version of the software a number of years ago when I broke my wrist and had it in a cast. I was left to one hand or better yet only one finger for typing and it drove me nuts. That's when I looked into dictation programs and broke down and bought it (paid something like $90). Now, I can't do without it and recently got a newer version 11.5. It is not perfect, you have to train it and correct some errors. It learns from your dictation for your type of speech and vocabulary etc. so it improves its accuracy with time. I still have to reread and edit or correct to make sure it has chosen the right words but I am surprised how it knows the right spelling of "their" for example, versus "there" in the appropriate context. If you take the time to train it as you go for new vocabulary and your patterns of speech it really is a time saver for someone who is a lousy typist such as myself.

That advertised price from Tiger direct after rebate is amazing. If you've ever considered using a dictation program I would purchase it. It does come with an included headphone/microphone but it is not very good quality. If I remember correctly it was quite small in size but I up graded to a USB headphone/microphone.

On another note, I've been reading this list for years but I'm not very active. I think we should all commend Hunter on the excellent job that she does moderating this list. My heart went out for her over the last few months with all her problems with the truck, rodent damage and then the golf cart hitting her trailer. Hang in there Hunter your bad luck is over.

Well it's Super Bowl Sunday so that must mean spring is just around the corner and soon airstream time.
