I have a 'ugly' but works, non-estoration solution. Years ago when my 79
Argosy had the lock wrecked I put a hasp on the door and a ring under the
window both line up on the middle color ring going around the twinkie. Ise a
combination or round key lonk. Mine is still there, not beautiful but
functions..I did have one small lock cut off. .I suppose one could be very
fancy with some nice boat fittings.I gave up, I hope someone has a better Idea
for you. Isabelle

a screwdriver and tire tool so they sprung the door and damaged the
latch. They didn't manage to get in, but they damaged the latch to the
point where I couldn't get in either from the outside. Oddly enough, I
just popped out the emergency hatch (bathroom window) and climbed in and
opened it from the inside. I guess it's a good thing the thieves didn't
know anything about old Airstream campers and didn't want in bad enough
to just break a window. ;)
I had managed to futz with it enough I got it working for a while but
now it doesn't lock right and hangs a lot so I'm in the market for a new
one (new to me. I'd buy a used in working condition unit) or a place I
can send mine to be rebuilt.
Suggestions?
Jim
