My husband and I have been planning on a cross country trip in an RV in about three or four years. We will pull our son out of school for 6 months or so- around when he will be in sixth grade. After dreaming about different options, we have settled on an Airstream. And so, we are about to enter a world we know nothing about!! SUVs, trucks, trailers, etc.
Our plan ( or mine) is to research and dream for a while more, make our purchases, go on a few shorter trips to work out the kinks, then go! When we get back we will probably have to sell everything( we will be using our retirement funds) We want a smaller trailer- right now we like the flying cloud 20, and are wondering about the benefits of truck vs suv, and which one!! To be fair, I should say that my husband would have bought the trailer three times already if I hadn't restrained him.
So- any advice? Right now the only semi- definites are that the trailer should be a smaller one, and that we don't have an open checkbook. We also have very demanding jobs (and kid) so dont have lots of spare time to do fixer upper work ourselves Should we look for a late model trailer that is road ready? Or would it be reasonable and less expensive to look for an older one and have it fixed up? An already restored trailer?
Please- give us some advice!!
Thanks,
Tanya
