I am just about to sign up for the Workamper site (but would love to find a way for a discounted membership---they ask for a coupon code). I've also looked on USA Jobs for visitor assistant type jobs at parks and public fee-based lands, but I may have missed the boat this year. Not much left out there in areas I want to visit:-)
In all the places I visited this fall, only one (a state park in E. Nevada) had an Airstream owner as a camp host. I'm hoping to find something where I can camp and not fret about the dogs while I"m working. And the other animals, of course, but they are the only ones that need supervised potty breaks.
Is there a free service that mimics Workampers, or are they the best solution to finding free or really cheap camping, some useful work, and gorgeous landscapes? I am jealous of anyone spending the winter in Big Bend, but in the summer months, not so much:-) I also notice most of the web literature is about jobs for couples, so that won't work for a solo traveler.
