Re: [A/S] Leaking stationary window on 1967 International Airstream

Gotta be careful to make sure where the leak is coming from. It is easy to
have a leak around the roof vent or elsewhere on the top part of the trailer
and the water runs down inside the outer skin and comes out around the
window. I fought a leak for years before finding the leak around the front
roof vent. I did find minor leaks around the window frame which I sealed
without removing the window. Spend some time with someone and a hose to try
to isolate where the leak is.
Inland RV does have new seals for the moving window. There are no rivets
needed to replace the seals. The opening window has two different hinging
methods used. I've seen some where the window can be opened fully, two
screws and the lifting mechanism are removed and the whole window and upper
frame can be slid off the hinge. The window part of the hinge is attached
to the window with screws, double sided tape and/or adhesive. There is
another type where the hinge is permanent on the trailer and the glass has
to be installed with the hinge in place.
The curved glass is nice but not always necessary to prevent leaks. If the
opening glass is leaking the inside of the frame at the bottom will be wet
and the water will come through the screen or corners where the edges of the
metal frame meet. If that area isn't wet but the fixed window is leaking I
would suspect either the frame itself is leaking or there is a leak higher
on the trailer.

Good luck finding the leak - they can be tricky.
Pete
